2010/2011 Proficiency Dates

18-07-2010

All members wishing to remain proficient in their Bronze Medallion, Surf Rescue Certificate, Advanced Resus, and Defibrillation need to attend a proficiency prior to 31 Dec, 2010. The only exception to this are those who completed their Bronze/SRC award during the last school holidays June/July 2010.

Similar to last season we will conduct a practical session on a Friday evening from 6pm which will cover, resus, ARC & defib. A practical swim/surf session will follow either on the Saturday or Sunday morning. This will start with a pool swim followed by the beach practical session consisting of RUN,SWIM,RUN, TUBE RESCUE, BOARD RESCUE, SPINAL CARRIES & PATIENT ASSESSMENT.

We will run 4 proficiency dates ONLY. To reduce time required on the Friday evening a proficiency paper and reference guide will be available on the website within the next few weeks which you need to complete and bring into the evening sessions.

This must be completed prior to attending the Friday night session or competency cannot be awarded.

Please note: state, branch and club level proficiency assessment requirements have been reviewed and require each individual to be able to demonstrate all competencies required for each award. To pass this proficiency you have an opportunity to review the skills by attending the current Tuesday evening bronze sessions 6 - 8pm and/or Sunday morning practical beach sessions 8am - 10.30am.

Recent Bronze Medallion Trainee comment -

"I have completed numerous courses in my working life, I find the quality of the course is always predetermined by the quality of the people presenting the course. The Northcliffe club and its instructors made this course a fantastic experience through their professional manner in which the course was conducted. The instructors ensured that upon completion of the course we had be given some great skills not only in life saving but also for our day to day lives. The course was fun and informative and I can highly recommend the bronze course to any person considering doing it."
